“[W]e have an old tradition that, when a song is selected for national

championship, the people should get something for their money. We

should be willing to pay for the national championship,” he said. “If

it’s going to cost $25,000, that’s what it’s going to cost.

“I don’t think that’s a great idea. I don’t have a problem with

the song being paid for, but the idea that the people have to pay for

it is a little off,” said Dan. “At the end of the day, there’s a lot

of people that don’t have a TV, don’t have a radio, don’t have a

computer, and not everybody can afford $25.00. … You can’t eliminate

everybody who doesn’t have the money to afford it.”

When asked if he thought that $25,000 was a reasonable amount for

the national championship, Dan replied, “No, I don’t think so.”

The questions and answers regarding the music were met with

diverse opinions, but none of them were all that different from the

previous year.

“I think the tradition has to stop,” said David. “I think it’s

been a tradition for many years and it’s time to move on. But I

think they should make the song available for those that can’t afford

it. … I think that’s the way I’d vote for it.”

“I agree with that,” said Tyler. “I think it should be free for

all.”

“I definitely agree with that,” said John. “I think the money

should not be paid for. … I think it’s a tradition that needs to be

moved on.”
